Keep an eye on the economy

August 13th, 2011

The stock market has been riding some wild waves lately. It goes to show how panicky and downright stupid small-time investors are. The only reason the stock market is still as overvalued as it is currently is because the investors themselves are the ones propping it up. It’s a matter of time before the illusion shatters and the market crashes.

When will the crash happen? Who knows. Only the elites know, as they’ve already got it planned. Then again, their plans might not work out exactly how they want. A global financial crisis in their eyes may be a good opportunity for profit for them, but the side-effects might be too much for them to handle this time. If the masses take to the streets and riot, or other countries trigger wars as a result of this financial mess, where will the elites run to?

For us little guys, let’s keep an eye on the economy and plan for the worst case scenario. Don’t trust that we’ll maintain this current lifestyle indefinitely. Someday we may need to leave behind our technology and live naturally, like grow our own food and travel without machines.

Is the end near?

Today the stock market fell by a lot, simply because the credit rating of the US was downgraded by one level. People are panicking, claiming that a double-dip recession is coming. The fact is, the global economy will crash within our lifetimes whether or not another recession is coming soon.

Think about the way industrialization works. It’s simply unsustainable. How much oil is there in the ground? Certainly not enough to power millions of cars, fuel thousands of airplanes and ships, or create tons of petroleum based products such as plastic. The increased costs of oil and gas may be due in part to speculators, but even speculators understand that oil is a finite resource, thus the prices will go up if the supply is dwindling. The demand certainly isn’t going down.

How about all of our over-fishing of the seas? Or the pollution being dumped into the water whether it be toxic waste or oil spills or garbage? How about corporate farms mono-cropping and depleting our soil? The media will always spin things to make it seem like some very smart and professional people have things under control but is it really? People want to be deluded into thinking everything is okay so that they can continue living their merry lives without a care.

The truth is this – we’re depleting every single resource on this planet, even the water we drink and the air we breathe, and there’s nothing we can do to restore it. Before one can understand why the economy is failing, one must look at the available resources on earth. The production of goods doesn’t come out of thin air. People had to extract minerals out of the ground so that Apple can build their next i-whatever so that little Johnny can play his apps. What happens when i-whatever version 2 comes out? We’ll just dump the old model into a pile somewhere in China, where people might extract the metals out of it while releasing dangerous chemicals into the air, damaging everyone’s health in the area. Or they can just let it rot in the pile as the chemicals seep into the ground.

Is the end near? I believe so. And only God can save us, not faith in the economy.

The US gets a credit rating downgrade…

August 7th, 2011

What does this mean? The experts claim that prices will rise on everything in the near future because of this, as our currency is backed by debt, and if money costs more to borrow then the extra costs gets passed onto the consumer. This will not affect just Americans, but the whole world.

So who profits from this? It’s not like the money made from the increased costs of everything go nowhere. The profiteers are the banks that lend out the money. Think JP Morgan, Bank of America, etc. But wait, in some cases banks may be losing money based on their quarterly earnings you say. Well, you must realize that a portion of a company’s income must go towards paying the owners – this is usually defined in the company charter or some other legal document that states the terms. The people that own these corporations (think Wal-Mart family) do nothing to contribute to the company or society as a whole yet rake in millions, even if the company is failing.

I believe the US got a credit rating downgrade so that more money from the middle and lower class can be funneled into the hands of the global elite.

Lightning Strikes

August 7th, 2011

Last night in our apartment we suspected that lightning struck our apartment. I was sitting at my desk facing the wall and suddenly saw a bright flash of light run from the left to the right of the wall. It was as if someone took a paint roller that was the size of the height of the wall and rolled light slightly slower than the speed of light across the entire wall.

From Katie’s perspective, she saw that lightning was coming right at her, as if lightning went through the window and into the apartment in a straight line. It was at about eye level and was apparently 2 feet away from hitting her right in the head. However, it seemed to have went for the top of our stove, as in the metal fan area. The thunder that followed was extremely loud, probably the loudest I’ve heard in years.

The lightning was one of 2 that night. Another one struck somewhere soon after we had our experience but the thunder was much quieter than the one that seemed to have hit our apartment. There was no rain that night. How common is such an occurrence? Is it Yah trying to communicate to us? Could Katie have been killed if she was 2 feet to the left instead of where she was?
