"Furthermore, the technology exists by which all cable and satellite providers can enable the home viewer to select each channel that they want to subscribe to as an overall package. Current options force the consumer to indirectly pay for channels that they may feel are objectionable or contrary to their family’s values, yet the consumer is forced to block these channel as an afterthought – most often after their children have been exposed to the objectionable materials. I would urge the media industry to create channel subscription descriptors that identify channels in alignment with current movie ratings (G, PG, PG-13, R, NC-17) and to include other descriptor categories such as 'alternative lifestyle content,' whereby the consumer can pick and choose which channels they want to subscribe to.

I would also make it a priority to create laws by which all hardcore pornography channels would not be viewable - even as a listed option - unless specifically subscribed to as part of the core viewing package. Also, I would support legislation that does the same for the hotel industry."
